In January all the books were by the author -
Rescue.
A Change in Altitude.
The Last Time they Met.
The Pilot’s Wife.
Resistance.
Sea Glass.
Testimony.
Strange Fits of Passion.
(The only different author read was Lillian Jackson Braun –
‘The Cat Who Could Read Backwards’.)
A number of themes were evident when listening to the comments made. The author seems to like placing her characters around the NE of USA in places such as Boston & Maine. Many books seemed to move forward & backward in time to cover & explain different events. Emotions & complex relationships are explored alongside the impact of events.
ReplyDelete'Rescue' is her latest novel and I found it much more straightforward than most of her other novels. In fact, if I had not known it, I would not have picked it as one of Anita Shreve's. The story revolved around the issue of the effect of alcoholism on a family, and though easy to read was a little underwhelming compared to her usual style.
