Never having read Maugham before, I deliberately chose short stories so if I didn't like the works I could skip through it quickly. Whilst I was tired of the slow pace & not a lot of plot in most of the stories, I thought he wrote very well & created clear images of the people & places in his work. Listening to comments about ther books, I may read, at a later date, a few of his better known novels. For the moment I need a break from him though!
